|REFUND POLICY– A full refund will
be given if the
Recreation Department cancels the program. If the participant
moves from Town, or becomes ill, a full or pro-rated refund
will be based on the number of sessions the participant
attended. A doctor’s medical note must accompany the refund
request due to illness. All refund requests must be made in
writing to the Superintendent of Recreation for consideration.
However, all programs are subject to changes and/or cancellations
due to a variety of factors. some of which may not be
under the control of the town of North Salem.
|PARK USE – Joe Bohrdrum
Park is available to town organizations and residents on a reserve
basis. If your
organization wishes to reserve the park for a specific date,
permission may be obtained from the Recreation Department.RETURNED CHECKS – Any
check returned by the
bank will be subject to an additional $15 charge.
INSURANCE – The Town of
North Salem does not
carry insurance to cover hospitalization or medical costs
of persons injured while participating in programs. All

BABYSITTING PROGRAM – This
youth ages 10-15 with the information and skills necessaryto provide safe and
responsible care for children. The program will help participants develop skills
in leadership, safety andsafe play, basic care, first aid and professionalism.
Classeswill be held in the North Salem Middle School Cafeteria on
Tuesdays, April 5th and April 12th
from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
Fee for this two-part program is $22. Call the Recreation
Office to sign up, space is limited.
BOWLING – The
bowling program for boys and girls is
in progress at Carmel Lanes. Sessions are usually 10 weeks
long and run from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. The cost is $120. Fee
includes use of lanes, shoes, bowling ball and chaperone.

THE NORTH SALEM COMPETITIVE
TEAM – This is an advanced cheerleading
program for girls in 6th grade. The team has been cheering
at recreation basketball games. They will be entering several

|SMILE PROGRAM – Say “Thank You” to
This is an ongoing program that asks various groups and the
North Salem Girl Scouts to make holiday cards for disabled
veterans. Cards are mailed to the Roosevelt Veterans Hospital
in Montrose, NY throughout the year. Anyone wishing to
help can call the Recreation Office for more information.
NORTH EAST WESTCHESTER
RECREATION – North East Westchester Special
Recreation, established in the early 1970’s, is a community based
therapeutic agency serving children and adults with
developmental disabilities in the northeast portion of
Westchester County. Programs offer a variety of year-round
recreational activities designed with the specific support
needed for participant success in this environment. Programs
may focus on teaching skills, fostering fun and friendships
or teaching or correcting social or behavioral deficiencies.
Superintendent of Recreation, Beverly Golisano, sits on the
Board of Directors and may be called for more information.
TENNIS –The Tennis courts
are located at Joe Bohrdrum
Park. A recreation card is needed to play and may be
obtained by calling the Recreation Office.
MOHEGAN SUN – The North Salem
Department and the North Salem Senior Citizens are
sponsoring a trip to Mohegan Sun on Tuesday April 19th.
The package is $27 and includes a food voucher, Keno and transportation. The
bus leaves from the North Salem Salt Shed (behind Kingsley’s) at 9:00 am
sharp and will return around 7:30 pm. For more information call Muriel Bisulca
|NORTH SALEM LACROSSE – Sponsored
North Salem Recreation. Lessons will start in the spring.
Fundamentals of sound individual and team play as well as
learning skills will be stressed. For information call Coach

ADULT MEN’S SOCCER – This program runs from
April through June. Practices are on Tuesday evenings from
6:00 – 8:00 pm. Games are Sunday mornings at 9:15 am.

|BALLROOM DANCING – The
premier teacher of ballroom dancing, Dave Ginenthal, is teachingin
North Salem. Join with other couples, singles, and make new friends.
Ballroom dancing is geared to
mature adults. Dance to the oldies of the 40’s and 50’s. Learn the
new easy Salsa, Tango, Cha Cha, Fox Trot, Lindy, Waltz, etc. Participants will
get individual attention while experiencing a great form of
non-strenuous exercise. Classes will be held at the North Salem Middle School
Gym on Monday evenings from 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm for 10 weeks starting on
April 11th. Cost is $70.
